FIRE STATION BEING SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!

URGENT ACTION REQUIRED you may be losing your closest fire and emergency protection as a result of this closure!

Since 1970, Falls Fire Department located at 11908 Falls of Neuse Road has been serving the Falls community. We pride ourselves in being a volunteer fire department with minimal paid staff support and yet providing exceptional emergency services to our community! We have approximately 30 volunteers and 9 part time paid staff that for nearly 40 years have given you their best before, during, and after an incident!

We are sad to inform you that Wake County is actively and aggressively working towards CLOSING your firehouse! This closure is tentatively set for July 1, 2012. At the date of closure, funding will cease and our response area will be divided out among other surrounding departments. Many of you may and /or will be affected by this station closure. You know as well as we do that during an emergency incident, seconds count and can make the difference! With any station closure comes the increased possibility and likelihood of increased response times when you dial 911.

Unfortunately, in our current world politicians only care about the bottom line and not always what is in the community’s best interest. Falls Fire Department currently operates with the lowest budget compared to other volunteer fire departments in Wake County. As you can imagine this is a mere drop in the bucket from the large fire tax in Wake County. We operate 7 pieces of apparatus including 3 pumper/tankers, 1 brush truck, 1 utility vehicle, 1 chief car, and 1 fire boat. If our station is closed, this equipment will be dispersed throughout the county.

For almost 40 years Falls Fire Department has been here for you and now we are calling for your help! Please call, write, and email the county commissioners and demand that Falls Fire department stay in the Falls community! Thank you in advance for any assistance you may provide to us and we hope and pray that we may be able to continue to serve you with the same pride, honor, and dedication that we always have!
