Another reason we're proud to be Wake County Firefighters
Saturday 1/21/2012
Amid the rubble of a Wake Forest home that burnt to the ground Friday night lies a small but precious grave, built for an Italian Greyhound named Adele that didn't survive the fire. After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters buried the dog in the backyard, fashioning a cross from debris and placing a brick marker with Adele's name. "In the middle of the night, they were tired, and they took the time to bury this dog," said neighbor Jennifer Lee. "That is above and beyond." <----- See the whole story by WRAL by clicking the photo |
Residential Structure Fire in Wake Forest...
Friday 1/20/2012
Units from Falls, Wake Forest, Stony Hill and Bay Leaf FD were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire this evening. While units were in route, it was reported that there was no one in the residence but a dog. As units got closer to the scene they reported they had heavy fire showing from a few streets away. Once on scene Falls crews began advancing hose lines into the front of the structure. This area does not have fire hydrants so water had to be shuttled in using tankers. Numerous hand lines were needed and eventually a ladder truck master stream was used to finally extinguish the fire. No reports on the status of the dog. Sunday December 25, 2011
With the pending merger of the Falls FD with the Wake Forest FD we wanted to create our yearly video and dedicate it to all our members, past and the present. This video pays tribute to the effort and sacrifices made by the members of the Falls Volunteer FD during 2011 as well as some shots and footage from years gone by. Our name will change next year but the dedication to the community we serve will never change. We hope you enjoy the video.
